Catherine and I spent a wonderful weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. We stayed in historic downtown Charleston at the French Quarter Inn. This proved to be a great trip because there is so much history to explore in Charleston and such great culture to soak in. We also loved the cuisine, and the architecture that the city has to offer. I'm sure that we will return soon to pick up where we left off. Beyond the city we visited a few historic plantation sites that were breath-taking with natural beauty. We ventured out to Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant where we toured the 700 acre plantation along the Wampacheeoone Creek. Rows of 265 year-old Live Oak trees lined the entryway to the plantation forming the "Avenue of Oaks." The scene was really impressive, and worth the trip alone. We also visited Magnolia Plantation and Gardens which is known for its extensive gardens of Camellias and Azaleas. We toured the nature trails and swamp habitat, and enjoyed the natural wildlife.
